Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” God knows the desires of our hearts. Not only does He know them, but He wants to give them to us! It’s in the bible, so we know it’s true, right? But do we believe it? I believe in God and His word not just because He says so, but because He proves it to me time and time again.
Throughout my pregnancy with James, I prayed for all kinds of things. For him and I to have a safe and healthy pregnancy and quick delivery. Answered. For him to be joyful. Answered. For Dixon to adjust well to being a big brother. Answered. I could go on and on.
You know what I didn’t pray for though? For my baby to have leg rolls. But my heart desired them. Silly, right? I agree! Leg rolls were not something I ever prayed for. Not once. I don’t even remember telling anyone I hoped my baby would have them. Dixon was always really long/tall and skinny. He still is. Some of my friends babies had the cutest leg rolls when they were little. My nephew, too! But out came sweet baby James and along with him? The cutest little leg rolls.
So just remember, even when you think something you want is silly, God loves you. He wants to give it to you. He wants to remind you that He knows our desires and He wants more of you. So sit down, rest, and soak Him in a little. Take delight in how good He is. Then take notice when He drops a those sweet reminders right in your lap.
